PORT SAINT LAURENCE (StL), 12th of May 1978 - Oscar Traynor has won the election for leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party in an unopposed election. The leadership election was sparked after the resignation of Sir Kenny Williams, who resigned due to ill-health. Mr.Traynor, who is very popular within the party, went to see the Governor General to request permission to form the new government of Abala. It is widely expect that the new Prime Minister will be more enthusiastic about Europe then his predecessors, though it remains to be seen if their will be any other difference.

It seems as though, today, the void has, at least begun to be filled by two strong prospects, respectively Oscar Traynor (Progressive Conservatives) and Vicente Leferro (Social Democratic Party).

PORT SAINT LAURENCE(StL), 5th of May 1978 - The Prime Minister, Sir William Kenny, announced his resignation as Prime Minister today in a television address to the nation. The Prime Minister said he was "physically and mentally exhausted" and that he wished to spend more time with his family. Sir William Kenny has led the Progressive Conservative party since 1961. He was Prime Minister from 1961 to 1973 following an election defeat in 1973, leader of the opposition until 1977. Last year, his party narrowly defeated the ruling Social Democrats, winning a majority of 1 in Parliament.
