PORT SAINT LAURENCE (StL), 12th of May 1978 - Oscar Traynor has won the election for leadership of the Progressive Conservative Party in an unopposed election. The leadership election was sparked after the resignation of Sir Kenny Williams, who resigned due to ill-health. Mr.Traynor, who is very popular within the party, went to see the Governor General to request permission to form the new government of Abala. It is widely expect that the new Prime Minister will be more enthusiastic about Europe then his predecessors, though it remains to be seen if their will be any other difference.

In his victory speech Mr.Traynor talked about good governance, smaller government and a politics of reason “….I believe in the politics of reason. I believe in good government; government which limits itself, but endeavors to help the weaker. I believe in getting on with the job. In that respect, I must leave you now. There is now work to be done!” Commenting on the victory John Lucas, Progressive Conservative MP for Stanisav Town said ““It’s time to raise our sights to look beyond the cramped ideals and limited ambitions of the past to recapture the spirit of energy and of confidence and of idealism because Oscar Traynor inspirers all of Abala. “
